I went to Day #2 of Coachella.
I worked from 1pm-2pm, handing out Metallica flyers (for Warner Bros - a side job I have).
Then I got to experience the art/design, music, and sculptures of the event for the rest of the day.

Bands that I saw perform, 3pm-9:30pm:
- Minus the Bear
- Cold War Kids
- Devotchka
- MGMT
- Kate Nash
- Hot Chip
- Death Cab for Cutie
- M.I.A
- Mark Ronson (plus special guests)
- Portishead

Book Title thoughts

I've finally had the time to finish editing all 80 photos I'm using for my artist book of transformation. Every single picture is a picture of water, in some form or another, and it's functioning in nature.

I need to think of a book title!

I looked through some song titles to get inspired. Here are the ones I'm thinking about (some are way better than others, but I like to brainstorm):

The Script Called for Rain
Filtered
U-tope
Distractions
Crystalline Green
Under Water
The Tourist
Terra
Adrift
Recycled Water
Flooded

My top choices are:
Recycled Water
Filtered
The Tourist
Flooded

With maybe a subheading:
...the script called for rain.

Art Event #6 - Tecolote Guitar Works

Date: February 12, 2008
Location: Tecolote Guitar Works store in San Diego, CA
Time: 12pm

Brief description:
Showcasing over 30 sculptural and graphic artists, Tecolote Guitar Works has ukelele-sized Mexican guitars on display for a few months. Each guitar is unique and decorated from its original form. I was one of the artists featured in the display with a mosaic-covered guitar that is reminiscent of the ocean floor, clear salty water, and sandy shore with the use of colored glass tiles.

My guitar is the second-to-last on this wall:

Oliver Herring

What I like about his work:
I really like how Herring uses vivid, bright colors in his work. This particular photograph session was creative because dye was sprayed over the face, and left a colorful mark on the individual.

The photograph session:

Websites

Reza Abedini
-uses a lot of white space
-places macro images of household items
-writes simple poetry in farsi
-from Iran

Saed Meshki
-created beautiful books with vintage/degraded frames and images
-fragmented words
-handwritten, scanned words

Arturo Herrera

What I like about Herrera:
I like how said that we perceive things through "memory, emotion, and desire."

What I like about his work:
I like that he doesn't stick to the usual composition of black-and-white photography. His pictures look like graphite drawings.

What surprised me about his work:
His work is very ambiguous, and I would find it difficult to keep a consistent style, when his film developing takes place under different temperature and chemical circumstances.
